Gabrielle Kilian Sims

Gabrielle Kilian Sims was born in Dusseldorf, Germany in 1951. 
She holds degrees in Art History and Fine Arts from Queens University, Kingston, Ontario. 
For the last fifteen years she has been attempting to integrate her voice training with her drawing practice – to see the line as an analog of song. Her work has been exhibited in Canada, The United States, Europe and Qatar. She has received grants from the Ontario Arts Council, and was awarded the Best Drawing Award at the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition 1995. Her work is in several public collections: The Canada Council Art Bank, Ottawa, The Agnes Etherington Art Centre, Kingston, The Peter Munk Cardiac Centre, Toronto, Middlemarch Press, Toronto.

In 2016 she collaborated on a book of drawings and poetry – Singing Her Across –with her partner, Peter Sims, in memory of her much beloved daughter, Danielle.
